Google Forms
Google Forms
Google Forms is an example of a technology that provides a way to create a document that can be shared with multiple people and is interactive. The use of Google Forms is also a good way to collect data from any group of people (parents, students, teachers). Creating a Google Form is relatively easy. First you must have a Google account. From there, navigate to Google Docs and create a new form. You can change the background and the format to fit your needs. Once that is done, simply create your questions. You can choose what type of question you would like to create whether it be multiple choice, short answer, long answer, or select a response. Once the form is created you can share the form with whomever you’d like. As people respond on the form, you can see the data in a spreadsheet.
This particular Google Form was created as a way to collect feedback from an IEP chair meeting. This meeting covers a lot of topics and the Google Form can benefit the Office of Special Education (OSE) by gathering the thoughts of the participants in regards to what was presented and on which topics they may want information in the future. Once the meeting is conducted, the participants will be given the link to the form. As they complete the form, OSE can see the responses.
The use of Google Forms will definitely benefit OSE by streamlining the feedback process. Because participant responses are collected in a spreadsheet, the responses will be easy to organize. OSE can see which topics were received well and which were not and then use this information to either follow up or determine which topics to cover in the future. It definitely makes the data collection quicker and clearer. That way more time can be spend on analyzing data and planning and less time on gathering the data. In the classroom, teachers can use Google Forms to gather parent information and feedback such as contact information. Additionally, teachers can actually design assignments directly on Google Forms. The data collected will make grading much simpler and quick.
