Board Builder
BoardBuilder
Boardbuilder is a program that is available for teachers and students to create interactive boards on which they can place any type of media (website, video, picture, document, files, etc.). As is the case with most of the web 2.0 tools, the interface for Boardbuilder is easy to navigate and use. Once you choose an overall theme, you can begin editing the board. You can add headlines, attachments, or media and place it directly on the board. In addition, the look of the board can be customized with colors and background and foreground themes. Anything that is posted to the board can be resized or moved around. This allows the student or teacher to group certain resources together or to be creative with how the items are arranged.
This board was designed to provide students with a math resource sheet. Things like a hundreds chart, place value, shapes, and equivalent fractions were placed on this board. Each resource can be clicked on and brought up on the screen for the student to use. Students can save a board or edit a board to add or remove resources. A board can be created by both students and teachers. Students can use it to gather resources, to create an interactive newsletter, or to make an album. Teachers can use it to differentiate content for students, to direct students to resources, or to create lesson plans.
This technology can be used simply as a student resource. This can be particularly beneficial to students with disabilities to provide visual reminders or resources that they may need as accommodations. This board was created to provide a student with a math disability a resource of visual aids. This enhances student learning by allowing teachers and students to customize instruction and resources based on student level and need.
